I’m a bit sad about this, but nevertheless it’s a good sign that bank is embracing the new technology of accepting payment via smart phone.

K-Merchant for iPhone. Powered by Soft Space. Now available in iTunes [link]
Currently the apps is only in iOS and shall be available for Android in a few month. According to the source close to the company saying that Malaysia will be launch this year. A bit delayed from the earlier timeline that previously mentions.
There has been good development in Malaysia with MolPay and MolCube recently, but all of the effort are not yet materialize. Perhaps there some issues that need to be iron out between them.
Back to K-Merchant, the issuer is the bank itself. In theory, you can download the apps freely from iTunes, but it useless without the EMV smartcard reader issued by the bank after you register the merchant account with them.
One thing for sure when using this system is that, make sure your internet connection is stable either within Wifi range of 3G connection.
